Preston,

What Phones are connected? What Firmware are you running on the switch?

Re: 2600-series POE Woes

Mostly Avaya 4602 phones, with some 4606's

We're running 8.53 on all switches ta that location

Re: 2600-series POE Woes

Hi Preston,

Please try upgrading your firmware to the H.08.72, which is available on the web. There have been a number of PoE related changes, including invalid PD signature related.

If you have a cable tester, it would be good to check the cable on port 16. It's possible that you have a bad connector, split pair, etc. that could be causing the excessive power draw. You could also try disconnecting port 16 for the moment.

It would be good to know if the the problem is isolated to one switch. Are your other 26xx-PWR switches working properly?

We have tested the 26xx-PWR with the Avaya 4606, 4612, and several other 802.3af compliant phones from several vendors and have not seen any issues.

Re: 2600-series POE Woes

Yes, this is the only switch that has done this (so far) which is why it struck us as odd. We have a number of these poe switches at the same firmware level.
I'll try the upgrade, thanks

Re: 2600-series POE Woes

Preston,

Was this switch running fine for some time and now has a problem? Has anything changed?

The Over Current Indication says that the port is trying to draw too much power. This "should" only happen with an bad PoE device or faulty cabling/connectors.

Has run for over 11 months without a hitch. This is the first we've heard of it

Re: 2600-series POE Woes

Is port 16 the only one still having problems? Or are none of the ports on this switch getting power?

Re: 2600-series POE Woes

After a few reboots, port16 is the only one having trouble now. It took 2 reboots to get the rest of the switches to detect (that is, power cycling the switch)

I put in a support ticket with our infrastructure specialist to check out the cabling.
