2610 SNMP Setup
Hi,
this is an HP Procurve 2610-48. I am trying to configure SNMP on it to sent traps to an IP address on the same subnet.
The config is
Switch IP: 192.168.0.22
Target IP: 192.168.0.25
I have read the manual many times over and spent the last three hours reading forums on this and I can not find a consistent answer.
I am getting stuck here
ProCurve Switch 2610-48(config)# snmp-server host 192.168.0.25
Incomplete input: 192.168.0.25
ProCurve Switch 2610-48(config)# snmp-server host public 192.168.0.25
Invalid input: public
ProCurve Switch 2610-48(config)# snmp-server host 192.168.0.25 public
Invalid input: public
My community is called public and I have declared a community string using the snmp-server community command. I ave tried many other variations of the above commands inlcuding with CIDR and fully stated subnet but they give invalid. Can anyone shed any light on why this is wrong?
Cheers,

Re: 2610 SNMP Setup
snmp-server host 192.168.0.25 community public
Learn to love the tab completion on the command line; it will save a lot of hunting through the manuals.
