2626 VLAN routing special case!

Hi everyone,

I am new with HP 2626, this is what i am need and hope that you all will help me.

I create 3 VLAN: VLAN 2, VLAN 3, VLAN4.

So I just want VLAN 2 and VLAN 4 can see each other. VLAN 3 is seperated.

If i use "ip routing" command then all VLANs can see themself.

PLEASE GIVE ME AN ADVICE! THKS VERY MUCH

Re: 2626 VLAN routing special case!

I'm not personally familiar with the 2626, but my first thought is, do not assign the switch an IP address in VLAN 3. If the VLAN is defined and ports are assigned, it will pass packets like a typical layer 2 switch within the VLAN. But with no IP address, it can't route packets at layer 3 to other VLANs.
Trust me, I know what I'm doing

Yes I concur with Ben, if you assign an IP address to VLAN 3 you will not be able to restrict traffic to that VLAN as the 2626 does not support ACLs.

Your other option would be to disable routing on the switch and use a router to perform routing and traffic filtering.
