We're considering purchasing either the 2650 PWR or 5348 with POE. We're a small business and upgrading to VOIP. Was wondering if the 2650 PWR will fill our needs, or should we go to the 5300 series and why? We have a limited budget, so hoping 2650 is sufficient.
Thanks

SolutionWhat about QoS? Will you put your VoIP devices on a seperate VLAN with higher priority or are you intending to handle QoS based on the layer 4 protocol?
If you will be routing go with the 53xx (see my thread "Don't use a 2626 for routing").
If you will be using it as a pure layer 2 switch with the VoIP devices on a seperate VLAN I'm sure you will be satified with the 2650.

Re: 2650 vs 5348 and POE
We won't be routing with the switches, and the phones we're using are Avaya 56xx series with IP Office. Their recommended specs are:
Layer 2 is 802.1p/q - default is set in phone at 6. Layer 3 is Diffserv - Priority Numbers, default is set in phone at 63. Layer 4 is UDP - Port Selection.
I went back an re-checked the latest feature set for the 2600 series switches, and it looks like they cover all the bases.
Thanks
Tom
