4108 Keeps resetting itself
Our 4108gl keeps resetting itself and reporting an error: "Software execption at alloc_free.c:479 -- in 'tDev"

Charles,
This error was fixed in G.07.22 the lates release on the web is G.07.63. I recommend that you upgrade the firmware.
If this is not posible due to the timeframe for the reboots.
First try a factory reset, give it an IP and flash the firmware.
If that does not give you enough time for an upgrade. Remove all modules, factory reset the switch and see if you can flash the FW over the console instead.
If that does not work then I suggest you call HP support for a new chassis.

Ah to fast again, you asked what could be the cause...
If switch receives an IGMPv3 Join with a reserved Multicast address, or an invalid IP Multicast address, the switch may with a message similar to: -> Software exception at alloc_free.c:479 --in 'tDevPollTx' Task ID = 0x1825f70 -> buf_free: corrupted buffer
