530x, 2650, 25xx management problem

Our Network consists of two 530x Switches, four 2650 and eight 25xx switches.

Administration of the 530x switches is allways accurat, Telnet, PCM, Webbroser is fine all the time.

Any other switch 2650 and 25xx is not controllable. Loosing the connection in a established WebBrowser or TelnetSession or even unreachable by a simple ping.

In the other direction with a client direct attached to e.g. one of the 25xx switches the connection is stable and with full functionality.

The Network traffic is not affecte by this Problem only the management is impossible.

Any solotions???

Hi Markus,

What software are you running on the 26xx and 25xx? I remember there was some problems regarding management but can't recall what model switches.

A ping to a switch is very low priority and if there is a workload on the switch it will prioritize the traffic and the ping will be lost.

The latest Firmware on the switches

530x => 10.04
2650 => 8.72 /8.60
25xx => 5.34 / 5.22

Webbrowser = IE, or Firefox
OS = WinXp
JAva=1.0.5.05(latest)

The only administrable switch ist the 530x...

No or negligible traffic on the switches...

Sounds like a "interesting" problem that you have run into on your network. I would suggest to call HP support for assistance.

I suggest you instead try Sun java 1.5.0_02 or older.

have u configured the right gateway on the switches?

have u added a management vlan?
u will only be able to connect from a client in this management vlan.
