5400 series console connections (USB - DB9)

has anyone been successful in getting a USB-Serial cable to work for the 5406zl switches? i've read posts from a few years back but nothing on a current 5406 model. can you share what has worked for you if you have? i'm trying to get a non-hp cable to work and have been unsuccessful in getting a connection with the switch console. i followed the settings listed by HP but no success so far. thanks in advance!

Hi,

Yes, we use a USB to serial cable and then a normal HP serial cable on our 5406zl chassis all the time.
Have you used the USB to serial cable successfully before?

Hi Mohammed, no I've always had a serial port near by, but we've pretty much id the problem being the serial cable connection between the usb/serial and the console port. Thanks!

certain version of IOS doesn't like Flow Control RTS/CTS and you will need to clear that in order to connect.

I've been using usb/serial all the time since my laptop doesn't come with a serial port.
