5412zl VLAN Routing via alternate MPLS gateway
Good evening experts,
Background:
HP 5412zl with 5 VLANS with routing enabled
IP helpers on all VLANS 192.168.1.16
IP of switch 192.168.1.2
Route of last resort 0.0.0.0 192.168.1.1
Static Route 10.18.204.0/24 192.168.1.19
MPLS Router(Cisco 2800 series)192.168.1.19
VLAN IP's
VLAN 1: 192.168.1.2
VLAN 2: 192.168.2.1
VLAN 3: 192.168.3.1
VLAN 4: 192.168.4.1
VLAN 5: 192.168.5.1
Issue:
I need to be able route traffic destined for 10.181.204.0/24 through 192.168.1.19 from any VLAN
Problem:
I can route traffic destined for 10.181.204.0/24 from the default VLAN 1 through the MPLS router 192.168.1.19 but not from any other VLAN.
Troubleshooting:
A tracert from any other VLAN except VLAN 1 reveals the first hop to be the VLAN IP and then stops.
A trecert from VLAN 1 reveals 192.168.19 to be the first hop (this works)???
AT&T manages the routers on both sides of the MPLS link and insists that there is a routing issue in the switch.
I am running up against a deadline of Monday to get this solved and could really use some major brain power to help me get this solved.
Thanks for you help :-)
Steve

Re: 5412zl VLAN Routing via alternate MPLS gateway
Issue resolved:
AT&T did not have the MPLS router on my side (Los Angeles)configured correctly to advertise the additional VLAN subnets.
I worked with their Tier 1 & 2 engineers who could not resolve it and finally got a hold of Tier 3 then their top Tier 3 guy who resolved the issue by re-configuring both routers on each side of the MPLS link.
The key here was that I could not ping the router's LAN interface (192.168.1.19) from any VLAN except VLAN1 although I could ping any other host from any VLAN. This fact pin pointed the router as the problem.
Hope this helps someone....
