6200yl problem with avaya G700

I am trying to connect a 6200yl to an avaya G7000.
The 6200yl has the latest firmware, the 1000 baseT port is configured to work as a 100Mbps.
when I connect the avaya gateway the link doesn't go up.
other devices operating at a speed of 100Mbps are working.

Re: 6200yl problem with avaya G700

I found this in the release notes for new firmware:

Enhancement (PR_1000374051) The 5400zl switches are not detecting packets from an Avaya G700 PBX or Cajun switch due to irregular Ethernet packets sent by those devices. This is a workaround that will alter the 5400zl software to allow 100Mb operation on the upcoming "C" revision of the 1000 Base-T Mini-GBICs (J8177C) that fit in the J8705A module. The port containing the 1000 Base-T Mini-GBIC can be configured with new speed options of "auto-100," "100-full," and "100-half."

Re: 6200yl problem with avaya G700

Hello Again
the Gbics I am using are J8177B not C.
the problem that these are working on 100 full duplex with all the server and netowrking equipment expect the Avaya G700.
The 6200yl has been upgraded to the latest release, and all possible configuration have been tried on the port connected to the Avaya.
none has worked.

Any idea?

Re: 6200yl problem with avaya G700

I don't believe the B-version of the Mini GBic supports the 100-MBit setting. You have to have the "C" version with the new software. Another option is to put a 100-MBit hub between the 6200 and the G7000. Or: Contact ProCurve support. They might send you a "C" version of the mini-GBic to solve the problem.

I already have servers working on the B version. only the Avaya is not working.
I will contact support to see what they think about this problem.

Re: 6200yl problem with avaya G700

I just verified that the "B" version doesn't solve your problem. You need to have the "C" version of the MiniGBic to fix this particular problem.
Again, contact support and they should ship you the "C"-version to address your (known) issue.
The issue is exactly what was mentioned in the earlier reply by Case van Horsen. It is only related to the Avaya G700(0), other nodes/NICs will work fine on the "B" version.
