Asset Details Procurve Manager

Hi,

I have notcies that in the properties display for a switch in PCM2.0+ there is an 'Asset' field.
Would anyone be able to tell me how i go about popultaing this? It would be handy to have that info readily available.

It is just below the contact and location fields.

Cheers

Re: Asset Details Procurve Manager

Hi Jonathan,

I haven't tried this, but I think you can set it using the following SNMP OID:

iso(1).org(3).dod(6).internet(1).private(4).enterprises(1).hp(11).nm(2).hpWebMgmt(36).hpHttpMgMod(1).hpHttpMgObjects(1).hpHttpMgNetCitizen(2).hpHttpMgAssetNumber(10)

Re: Asset Details Procurve Manager

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, But unfortunately that means absolutely nothing to me!

There is no simple command on the switch that would allow me to set an asset number for it then?

Re: Asset Details Procurve Manager

Take a look in the manual for commands like WalkMIB and SetMIB.

Re: Asset Details Procurve Manager

Hi Jonathan,

Sorry for not making this more clear. Here is how to set this using the cli:

# setmib hpHttpMgDeviceAssetNumber.1 -D "value"

Here is how to read this using the cli:
# walkmib hpHttpMgDeviceAssetNumber

Re: Asset Details Procurve Manager

Excellent, Thanks very much, I am just going through putting the commands it now and it appears to be working well,

Thank again

Re: Asset Details Procurve Manager

I don't think PCM currently polls this value from the switch.
