Brocade 4Gb SAN

Hi,
I have to install two Brocade 4Gb SAN switch in C7000 enclosure.Switch contains 16 internal downlinks and 8 externel uplink ports. Furthermore we have installed dual port FC cards in Bl 460c servers. Please explain the port mapping i.e. does 8 externel ports will connect all the 16 server?

Re: Brocade 4Gb SAN

Hi,

I suppose your question should be in the SAN area.

Have a look at your c7000 onboard adminsitrator and you'll see the port mappings when you select the blade server. Ports 1-16 are for SAN HBA's and 17-23,0 for external ports.

Re: Brocade 4Gb SAN

Hi,

The eight ports can be use to connect all the switchs or not. Tha will depend on the configuration of the switch.

By default all ports of a brocade switch is configured on adefaul to zone with allaccess enable, that is, all devices conected to the switch will have access to each other.
In that configuration, if you use the external uplinks to connect another switchs/devices, all blades server connected to the internal links will have acess to the devices connected to the external uplinks.
