Re: CDP question

"LLDP packets are used to populate the CDP neighbour information. I think it's sending LLDP and is transparent to CDP"

is this what you are referring to?
does lldp update cdp info in hp switches?

Re: CDP question

Hi

By default the switche have CDP enabled on each port.
This is a read-only capability, meaning that the switch can receive and store information about adjacent CDP devices but does not generate CDP packets.

Re: CDP question

all my hp switches are updated to the latest firmware.
we have 2500, 2600 & 5300 series installed.
I can still see all of them using CDP.
That should'nt be possible if they didnt send CDP info, right?

So my question is -how can i see all my switches using "sh cdp" if hp's does'nt send cdp's?

Re: CDP question

There is a single neighbour database on the switch. If either CDP or LLDP packets are received, it will populate this database and using both 'show cdp' or 'show lldp' will show you the same information.
