Cisco - Catalyst 2900MF XL
Hi all,
I wonder whether Catalyst 2900MF XL can work with single mode in 100BaseFX ports (Cisco doc contains declaration of only MM) and if so, how much distance it can extend between the neigbors.
Thank you very much.
WN.

Re: Cisco - Catalyst 2900MF XL
A MM LED transmitter will not work on a SM fibre.
The physical size of the SM fibre is smaller and you will loose too much light.
You can work A SM transmitter on a MM fibre for a very limited distance, depending on throughput. The distance is proportional to the speed of the link.
Obviously the best practice would be to match the transmitter and fibre.
