Cisco3020 - C7000

Hi,

I have an enclosure c7000 with 4 Bl680c, that im using with vmware.
Also in the enclosure i have 2 cisco 3020 switches.

The documentation says that in this switches, the ports 23 and 24 can be configure as internal for cross-connection to another switch module.

What does it means, that if a configure the port 23 on both switches, they automaticly see each other or i have to use a cross-over cable between them?

Tks in advance

Hi Angel,

The default behavior of port 23 and 24 is to act as an external uplink, but they can be configured for internal opperation to link the two interconnect switches together without the need for patch cables.

Take a look at the media-type command on page 204 of the CLI guide. Setting it to "internal" will link the switches internaly.

Tks Dennis for the answer,

can anyone tell me the best practices of using a Cisco 3020 with vmware.

How the configuration should be made?
