Solution5300(config)# setmib 1.3.6.1.2.1.16.9.1.1.3.77 -i 1
5300(config)# setmib 1.3.6.1.2.1.16.9.1.1.3.76 -i 1
The default is (4)
Value list: 1: none(1)
2: log(2)
3: snmp-trap(3)
4: log-and-trap(4)
Personally I would leave these enabled as they are, they can be very helpful for troubleshooting.

Re: Configure Event Log on ProCurve 5300XL
Log is full of this messages. They appear when connected PC is powering on or off. 200 useless messages a day.

Re: Configure Event Log on ProCurve 5300XL
5300(config)# snmp-server host 10.0.0.10 not-info
Everything will still appear in the switch event log, but at least you will not get so many traps being sent.

Re: Configure Event Log on ProCurve 5300XL
If you do a:
5300# walkmib eventdescription
You will see that 76 and 77 are the on-line off-line messages.
Going through this list you can choose which objects you wish to change from the default of 4.
