Detecting hp printers on procurve switches?

Hi everyone,

Is there a method available to detect HP printers on a HP procurve switch?

I look at the procurve mac address table, it shows plenty of mac addresses but all on same port such as port 26.

Thanks.

If you know the exact mac address you can type 'show mac-address 00:11:22:33:44:55' for example.

If you know the IP-address you can ping the printer from you server and get it's mac-address from the ARP table from you server (in command prompt, 'arp -a').

If you don't know the mac address maybe 'show lldp info remote-device' will show, but only if the printers talk LLDP.

good luck

That means that your printer is on port 26. In this case, the port 26 of that switch is the uplink to another switch.

Look into that switch or use show lldp info-remote as Igor said.
