Distributed Trunking only for 2 Switches?
I have some 5406 and a few 5412 switches here. Since firmware 14.xx the 5400 series supports distributed trunkung. What adavantage does dt brings agains normal lacp trunk? I found out that when a server supports LACP and NIC teaming you can use, for example, both network cards with full speed.

Re: Distributed Trunking only for 2 Switches?
the advantage of dt-lacp is that you can terminate your trunk on two different chassis. So you have increased availability rather than normal LACP terminating on a single chassis.
But this feature is only supported if the trunking device (the other end of the trunk) is a server. A switch to switch connection is not a supported setup (see manual).
Cheers,
Michael

Re: Distributed Trunking only for 2 Switches?
Also, be advised that you have to chose between DT-LACP or Routing on the switch. These two functions are not compatible and cannot be configured at the same time on the same switch.
