Re: Excessive late collisions & Excessive crc on a trunk.

'late collisions' can indicate a duplex mismatch -- one side thinks it's in full-duplex mode & the other is in half-duplex

you could check that and force full-duplex if needed

Although if you don't have ancient busted kit at the other end of the links to the 4204vl my personal suggestion would be to set both ends to autonegotiate.

How do I configer autoneg?

Re: Excessive late collisions & Excessive crc on a trunk.

I assume that on the new HP 4204vl that autoneg is already enabled. That would imply that the configuring that needs to be done would be on the other end, which will depend entirely on what that happens to be.

Re: Excessive late collisions & Excessive crc on a trunk.

Starting at www.hp.com, click on "Support & Drivers." Then enter 5412zl in the box and hit enter. In my case I then selected the "HP E5400 zl Seitch Series" link, then "Manuals" down in the Resources section. There should be a command line reference there (several versions actually, pick the one which matches the firmware running on your switch. If you scroll down far enough there will also be a "Getting Started" section, and then farther still will be a "Setup and Install - general" section with a few promising-looking titles in there as well.
