I have a J4900A (2626) switch currently running H.07.31 firmware. I tried to upgrade to H.10.29 using both the option from the menu and the command line. The file transfers to the switch, but then I get "Downloaded File Invalid". I have used the same file to upgrade another 2600 switch with no issue.
I have also tried the previous version of the firware (H.8.106) with the same results.
Any ideas?

Solution
There seems to be a boot ROM dependency which doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere on the website or firmware release notes...
What is occurring is those new flash images are too large for the old boot ROM to handle.
The latest boot ROM is H.08.02 (do a 'show flash' to verify which version you're running) - what I'd recommend trying is updating to an interim version, such as H.08.69 - hopefully this version includes the boot ROM patcher.
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/networking/software/j4899869.zip
Once the boot ROM is up to date, then you should be able to update to H.10.29.

Re: Firmware Upgrade to J4900A
Thanks! That fixed it. From there I was able to upgrade to the latest version.
