HP 5308XL does not respond to SNMP requests

Hi all,

we use a HP 5308XL which I want to query with SNMP v2 from a linux workstation with snmpwalk. The switch does not respond.

* Software version
HP procurve 5308XL
Software revision : E.10.61
ROM Version : E.05.04

* SNMP-Server is enabled

* SNMP communities are set (examples):
public Manager Restricted
not4public Manager Unrestricted

* The IP of the workstation that sends SNMP queries is registred as "IP Manager"

Each SNMP query ends up with an error in the Event log:

W 08/13/07 14:47:16 snmp: SNMP Security access violation from 10.100.20.227
W 08/13/07 14:47:17 snmp: SNMP Security access violation from 10.100.20.227
W 08/13/07 14:47:18 snmp: SNMP Security access violation from 10.100.20.227

* The switch is reachable with ping, traceroute, telnet

* PCM is not able to detect the switch (of course, PCM sends SNMP queries, too)

* a lot of other HP switches in the same network are configured identically and do respond to SNMP queries without any troubles.

Does anyone have an idea?

Thank you very much in advance,
