HP Procurve 5308XL and Nortel Baystack 450

Hey Folks,
last week I got my first HP Switch because of the lower costs than Nortel or Cisco products.
On the floors, we have lots of Nortel 450 Switches stacked and with 1000 SX moduls connected to the new HP 5308.
The problem is now, that this doesn 't work.
I only have errors between the Nortel and the HP Switch. I have a link on both sides, but the network doesn't work.
I also have dlink switches with 1000 SX modules and they work perfect with the HP Switch.

Does anybody have an idea?

Simon,

What kind of errors show up in the eventlog of the 53xx?
Have you checked the port-settings (auto or fixed on both sides)?
What is the firmware version on the 53xx?

Probably the Nortel interfaces are not configured in Auto mode. So in that case fix the interface of the 5308 to 1000Full.

(config)#int e
(eth-#speed-duplex 1000-full
(eth-#wr mem

Check that the Nortel 1000-sx ports are 802.3z compatible. Have seen issues with Nortel switch ports out of spec but linking.

Check on the ProCurve switch to confirm that there is link. Nortel switches sometimes report link that doesn't exist in my experience.
