HP Spanning-Tree
I have a network composed of HP switches (2824's & 2626's). RSTP is enabled and I am looking at the network map produced by Procurve Manager which is not looking how I want it to be.
How can I unblock ports that have been blocked by RSTP?

Re: HP Spanning-Tree
most people turn spanning tree on and leave everything as default. did you?
did you define a root by reducing the priority number (increasing its priority)?
i'm assuming you have a stable tree. in order to unblock equal cost links that you desire to make forwarding, you will have to mess with the port costs.
if you don't understand stp deeply, it will most likely have adverse effects on the stability of your tree and even LAN.
you've been warned. ;)

If a problem can be fixed, there's nothing to worry. If a problem can't be fixed, worrying ain't gonna help. Bottom line: don't worry.

Re: HP Spanning-Tree
I altered the root switch yesterday but nothing changed. I came in today and the network now looks exactly as I want it too. I didnt leave it long enough.
Thanks for the response.

Re: HP Spanning-Tree
Altered the root switch and everything else fell into place.
