Hanging 2848

We have a Problem with a HP 2848 Switch (I.08.71)!

It seems as will the Switch hangs. The Fault Lamp is going on, and no network traffic is possible. We must unplug and the plug the power cord to get it alive.
In the past 2 days we must reset it, with this, way 3 times.
The ProCurve Manager Plus 2.0 (PCM 2.0+) shows no errors or failure notice.

Here it's the config:

Running configuration:

What can it be?

Thanx for help.

Re: Hanging 2848

i STRONGLY suggest that you get in touch with Procurve support.
If a problem can be fixed, there's nothing to worry. If a problem can't be fixed, worrying ain't gonna help. Bottom line: don't worry.

Re: Hanging 2848

Hi Alen,

When the switch is in fault-state are you able to access the switch through the console? If yes, anything interesting in the eventlog?
Does this also happen if the switch is "standalone"?
Sounds like something is flooding your switch and it locks up the traffic, but it could be HW. Is there a specific time of day when the switch hangs?

Hi SCOOTER,

>> When the switch is in fault-state are you able to access the switch through the console? <<

No, because it's a branch office and i have only a TCP/IP Connection to it :(

>> Does this also happen if the switch is "standalone"? <<

I cannot check this because it's in a redundant fault enviroment with RSTP.

>> Sounds like something is flooding your switch and it locks up the traffic, but it could be HW. <<

I called for 10 minutes the HP Support and the will send me a new one. I think also it will be the HW :(

>> Is there a specific time of day when the switch hangs? <<

Yes, it seems that. It will hang every time at 23:39. At this time the other Switches which are connected to the will lost their connections.

Re: Hanging 2848

Alen,

I hope it's HW and that the switch HP sends you will fix the problem.

If not it would be interesting to know what happens on or just before 23.39 on that part of the network. Could be some device/prg that scans the network, makes backups etc...?

Hi SCOOTER,

I also hope that it is the HW!

There Is only the PCM running the whole time. To check the state, to monitor the traffice and to get the config.
