Help with HP Vlan's
We have Just Purchased Two New HP switch 2910 to updated our network swicthes which were unmanagered netgears. I have a few Questions on vlans, I'm quiet new to this
I have Enable IP routing on the switch so the vlans can talk to each other Is that correct?
Vlan 1 Ip address has been set from the mac address of the switch on the windows server dchp scope? is that correct
on the windows server reservations scope IP address 192.168.1.100
router 192.168.1.1
dns server 192.168.1.35
enable dchp-bootp
Vlan 1
name "internet"
untagged 1-19
ip address dchp-boot
exit
So the ip address of the switch is 192.168.1.100, mac address from reservations list windows server 2003 is that correct or should this be the next 192.168.1.2? we all ready this an device on this IP

guest
untagged 21-48
ip address 172.16.8.1 255.255.255.128
exit
So if you give an ip address an static ip from the vlan say 172.16.8.1 is that the gateway out of that vlan? e.i client machine static ip
172.16.8.20 (with in the range) 255.255.255.128 d/g 172.16.8.1 connect to port 22
How Does Vlan 2 connect to the internet? Our dns server is our domain controller of 192.168.1.35
Do I need to include a route back to the internet? e.i
ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0.0. 192.168.1.1 (default gateway of the cisco router or 192.168.1.35 which is our dchp/dns server
default gateway 192.168.1.1.
