How do you turn sflow off completely

I want to turn sflow off completely and permanently on all our HP 2800 switches. The manual doesn't tell you how to achieve this. I want to be able to type 'sh conf' and not see any reference to sflow at all as it's causing unnecessary traffic on our WAN.

Thanks

Re: How do you turn sflow off completely

Sflow would have been enabled using snmp on that series of switches.
To disable it you would have to use setmib commands do disable sflow for each port it's set for.
So for example (where X is the port number):

switch2800# setmib 1.3.6.1.4.1.14706.1.1.5.1.3.11.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.1.X.1 0

I believe you can disable sflow across the switch with one setmib command to disable the receiver but I'd have to do a bit of digging to look that up.

Thanks, looks a bit complicated. Have managed to get the config so all it reads it

sflow 1 destination 0.0.0.0 which will probably suffice.

Re: How do you turn sflow off completely

Hi Lenny

As far as what I know there is no command to turn sflow off with.

But

1. Typically especially on 2800s there is no way to manually enable sflow.
2. Be sure SNMP is secured
3. Be sure you have no sflow receivers on the network with snmp communities/credentials that enable them to enable sflow on your 2800s.
4. If you have sflow receivers on the network be sure to disable these devices in the sflow part of their config.

This would be the easiest way to do it.

I do realise this does nto 100% answer your question, but alas there is no 100% answer :).
