How to monitor access to hp 2650 / 5308xl using SNMP traps?

Hi,

i would like to monitor access to our switches using snmp traps but there is one big problem, I can't see IP address of computer that is accessing the switch. Is there any way how to monitor IP?

Thanks

Hello,

Maybe there is a way, but I don't see the purpose. There are better ways to control the access to switches by using Tacacs+ or Radius.

Maybe you want to monitor the IP adresses for other purposes, in that case you maybe clarify it.

The IP address of hosts accessing the CLI is available in syslog messages. See the

logging

statement in recent enough code.

It is also logged locally so one could use SNMP to query it out of the local log. The SysLog in PCM+ 1.x is not very good but there are some 3rd party SysLog servers available that can action on log entries including throwing a trap.
