How to stack Procurve 2650 switches?

Hi,

Can somebody please confirm if all that I need for stacking two HP Procurve switches 2650 is:

J4116A HP Procurve Gigabit stacking kit

I would like both switches to have a single IP address (act as one). Unbelieveably there is no data on this on HP web ?!

Thanks,
Marko

Re: How to stack Procurve 2650 switches?

Hi.

The stacking kit is not supported 26xx-series.

It's not possible to make two switches "act as one", but it is possible to manage them under one IP address. Only thing to do then is to connect the switches together using either normal 100MB/s link or a GB link. Then only thing needed is to configure one of the switches as a stack commander, other one as a stack member. Instructions to this are in the switch management and configuration guide which you can download from http://www.hp.com/rnd/support/manuals/index.htm

HTH,
Arimo
