IO mapping error for E100B on Compaq Armada E500

I have re-installed WIN XP SP2 on a Compaq Armada E500 using drivers from HP/Compaq website and I am getting an error on the NIC which is stopping it from loading
ERROR 1
"ACPI BIOS is attempting to read to an illegal IO port address(0x71), which lies ine protected address range."

ERROR 2
"Intel(R) PRO/100+MiniPCI. Could not connect to the interrupt number supplied"

I have updated the BIOS to the latest revision from Compaq & modem & nic drivers.

The error still persists.

For a better reponse, maybe you should ask this question in the Armada group - http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/categoryhome.do?categoryId=274

If you use the recovery CD it came with (not sure what OS) does the NIC work then? If so maybe upgrade to XP from that install.
