IP Console Switch - How to clear port config

There is one port on my 1x1x16 switch that refuses to release the config of an Interface Adapter that is no longer there. I can connect another to that port and it is recognized, but the switch still also remembers the config for the interface adapter that is no longer there. How can I clear the old adapter config for that port?
