Interconnecting procurve switches
I have 1 2650 48 port(J4899A), and 2 1800-24G (J9028B). For redundancy and bandwidth I have configured a Dynamic LACP between the 2 1800 using 2 ports on each switch and works fine. I only have the default VLAN on these 2 1800. I inherited this 2650 and I'd like to connect it to the current 2 1800 in a similar way for redundancy and bandwidth, besides I will need to create 3 VLANs (dmz, internal and a mpls network) on these 3 switches. How can add/trunk this 2650 to the 2 1800s?

Re: Interconnecting procurve switches
You are going to have to create 2 separate LACP Trunks
One from your first 1800 to the 2650 and another from your secondary 1800 to the 2650
Once you do this though you will have a loop in your network so make sure you are using spanningâ tree and make sure that you force your primary 1800 to be the root bridge.
Tag the Vlanâ s required over the trunks.
Sounds simply but read the ProCurve manual on trunks and spanning tree first.

Re: Interconnecting procurve switches
Unless I am wrong, STP is required on all 3 switches from what I read in the manuals but the 1800s do not support STP so I think I am unable to do what I wanted.
I think I would have to simply keep the trunk from the #1 1800 to the #2 1800 and create a trunk from the #2 1800 to the 2650 if this is supported, I will have to test it.
So thinking it is doable, Will I be able to configure the 3 VLANs across the 3 switches so that they can communicate to each other?
I will have servers that I can assign a VLAN # and clients that do not.
Thanks
