Interface error counters, 2824 switch

IIUC, the count in Total Rx Errors should be the sum of the four counters displayed above it (in Menu interface). That is, FCS Rx + Alignment Rx + Runts Rx + Giants Rx.

When Total Rx Errors is very large (~23K) but the only other non-zero error count is FCS Rx (~2K) what does this signify?

Firmware is I.08.87.
