4000 is 4000M ?
What do your led say ?

Did you check your cable ?
Did you set your machine to auto-negociation ?

Re: J4115A vs INTEL PRO 1000 Cannot establish link

Hi

First, I try to connect to any 100BaseT port. If this one failed, change cable, be sure not crossover cable.
If it works, look for the switch configuration port, speed, enable port, etc...

Re: J4115A vs INTEL PRO 1000 Cannot establish link

The led status is always off
We have tried all the possible configuration :
auto sense , 1000FD , flow contron on and off
on both lan adaptors and switch.
we have tried the latest driver available for
intel from H.P site and Intel site.

The patch cable is UTP category 5 enanched .
The switch is J4121A HP 4000M procurve.
We have tried to connect J4115A to compaq proliant DL380G3 an it works fine.
We have tried to connect INTEL PRO 1000 MT to
DL380G3 and it works fine.

We have tried with win2000 advanced server and
suse linux SLES 8 .

Re: J4115A vs INTEL PRO 1000 Cannot establish link

Hi,

HP has just released the C.09.18 code which specifically addresses this problem.
You can download it directly at ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/networking/software/j4110918.exe

Problems Resolved in Release C.09.16 (interim release)
??? 100/1000Base-T module (PR_92257) - The HP J4115 100/1000Base-T module may have
connectivity problems with certain Intel Pro/1000 and other Broadcom 5703 or 5704 based
NICs. These problems are often exhibited when the affected NIC workstation is either power
cycled or the NIC driver is disabled then re-enabled. During the failure, the link LED may
be lit, although no frames will be received by either side.

Thanks, Ardon
