Jumbo Frames Size

Hi,

I've successfully deployed our new network with 3 VLANS (thanks for the help folks ;) ) but now I want to turn my attention to Jumbo frames.

Jumbo frames are on for the data vlan and looking in the config on the switch they are set at the default value of 9216 (max frame size) and 9198 (max IP-MTU).

I have a number of Intel NICS that support jumbo frames, and you can specify the max frame size on them.

What do I set it to? The 9216 value or the 9198 value?

Thanks

Tino

Re: Jumbo Frames Size

Hi

The defualt value of the MTU, is :

Syntax: jumbo max-frame-size Sets the maximum frame size for Jumbo frames. The range is from 1518 bytes to 9216 bytes.

Note: The jumbo max-frame-size is set on a GLOBAL level.
Default: 9216 bytes

Re: Jumbo Frames Size

So for the Intel adaptors that support jumbo frames I set them to 9216?

Re: Jumbo Frames Size

It would be 9216. The OS should handle the MTU.
