LX and SX connections

I have a firewall GigE card with an LX GBIC built in connected to my Procurve 2948. The Procurve has a Mini-GBIC which I think is SX.

I think that we now have a multi-mode fiber with LX on one side and SX on the other. This connection works, but there does seem to be some performance issues (some sort of "cap" of bandwidth throughput). Could this be the an issue?? Does the wavelength mis-match make a difference??

Re: LX and SX connections

Hello Mike,

Funny that it works, you must have a very short cable between them. Unfortunatly this is not supported. My advice is to put a LX Gbic in the procurve.

Kind regards,

What's more wierd? There's no such model as a 2948.
If a problem can be fixed, there's nothing to worry. If a problem can't be fixed, worrying ain't gonna help. Bottom line: don't worry.
