We have a user mistakenly plug both the network and phone cables from a Mitel 5312 phone into 2 network ports on the wall.
As a result the swithces were down as there were too many collisions. The 3 ports switch in the Mitel phone has formed a looped with the switch when both cables are plugged into the network wall ports.
Please advise how to prevent the broadcast loop from happening. As we can't actually configure spanning tree to the phone.
Thanks

Solutionwe had a simalar situation with Avaya 9620 phones.
Two phones were connected to the network and working properly, but by accident connected the LAN ports on both phones with each other, creating a loop.
Because "spanning-tree bpdu-protection" was configured on both switchports, both ports were put in blocking state.
So my answer is to configure bpdu-protection on edge ports.

Michael

Re: Mitel phone create Broadcast Loop
You need to enable some version of Spanning-Tree.
MSTP is an option.
