Monitoring 10gbps interface

I looking for potential problems with monitoring a 10Gb interface, using a 1Gb port.
Aside from the obvious difference in bandwith, should I look out for anything else?

We will probably never see more than 300-400 mbps traffic at the most, so the gbps port should be able to cope.

This is a routing switch, which routes between 2 VLANS that are both on the 10Gbps link. Can I expect to see these packets twice on the monitoring port?

Cheers,
Anders RM :)

Re: Monitoring 10gbps interface

you have some option , HP Procurve 3400-24G /48G 24/48 10/100/1000M+2Open slot(10G)
;3500-24G/48G;24/48 10/100/1000M RJ45+4OpenSlots (4 10G);
which products support port mirror and sflow, and routing .

There are no problems that I've ever experience doing this (apart from potential oversubscription).

And yes, I expect that you will see routed packets twice.

Thanks. We've set it up, and as far as I can see, it works like a charm.
