Need to change IP to other lan card
Greetings, I have hp server (running 11.11) with 2 lan cards. I had main IP on lan0, different IP on lan1. I wanted to reverse these IP addresses, so my main IP is on the 1000BT card. I edited the IP address in netconf, changed the default route to [1] instead of [0] and bounced the interfaces and network services. I cannot get to either IP now. What did I do wrong?

Re: Need to change IP to other lan card
Those numbers inside the square brackets in the netconf file are not interface identifiers, they are array subscripts. When you edited the route entries, you didn't need to change any subscripts, only the values in the arrays themselves.
So, if you have switched the IPs (and presumably the cables) between the interfaces, there should have been no need to alter any of the default route lines in the netconf file.

Re: Need to change IP to other lan card
So why does ifconfig have to be run after a reboot to reestablish the IP addresses as desired?

No idea without being able to see the "meat" of your netconf file.
