Network Modular Chassis vs Standalone's

Hi,

This might seem like a basic question, but to be honest I cannot see an obvious answer... Is there a decision process that determines when people purchase a chassis vs standalone devices?

I have seen things such as limitations of the stacking link between standalone devices, and that for a high density installation a chassis may end up actually cheaper...

But I just want to get away from the simple thought that chassis are simply for enterprise, without me having any logical basis for that answer.

Re: Network Modular Chassis vs Standalone's

With chassis you have more than 1 power supply.
More, tha backplane bandwidth is greater than the stack and standalone switch.
