Non HP VLAN support switch hanging off Procuve with VLAN

Afternoon All,
Require a quick awnser:

Im assuming any VLAN assigned to an uplink interface to a non-supporting VLAN switches should be untagged?

Hi Karl,

If you are connecting a switch that is not 802.1Q compliant to Q compliant switch, what happens is that the frame will drop, because it adds 4 byte on the ethernet frame. So you are correct in your assumption, that the port should be untagged.

The 4 bytes are old added if the frame is tagged tho - Correct?

Yes,the maximum size for an Ethernet frame as specified by IEEE 802.3 is 1518 bytes, this means that if a maximum-sized Ethernet frame gets tagged, the frame size will be 1522 bytes, and therefor a violation.
