Obrject id for Arp Table

Hello,

we have a hp switch , HP J4813A procurssse switch 2524, and we want to take the mac table with snmp protocol.

the obejct id is :.1.3.6.1.2.1.17.4.3.1.1 we need something else like community@vlan or just community? someone can send me a command line for this?

You don't say what app or language you are needing the community string for.

Curious what you hope to get out of that OID. Since it is only the arp table for the switch itself, it will not return much, only what the switch itself had to do for its own communication.

i use javascript with command line.

this object id return me a unicast mac address for each bridge.

i just see what mac ahve in each port of the switch

Hi Michael,

For ProCurve switches, the entire FDB table is referenced by the community string for all VLANs. No need to add the "@vlan" as you do for Cisco switches.

You can walk the MIB using the switch CLI:
# walkmib dot1dTpFdbAddress

# walkmib dot1dTpFdbPort

Minor clarification for other readers, the object id 1.3.6.1.2.1.17.4.3.1.1 is the dot1dBridge MIB forwarding database, which differs from an ARP Table (e.g. subject of this thread is misleading).
