PCM+ Not Discovering 3500yl

Hi,
I'm having some difficulty with my setup. My PCM+2.1 (with SP5) is not discovering Switch 3500yl.

I have these 2 lines in the config:

snmp-server community "public" Unrestricted
snmp-server host 192.168.0.4 "public"

Anything else I missed out?

Re: PCM+ Not Discovering 3500yl

Hi

Are you Stacking the switch? if so it will follow its comander's community.

-If not, be sure to download the latest MIBs:
http://www.hp.com/rnd/software/MIBs.htm

The SNMPv1 and v2 enabled with the default community string of public, so no need for the first command.
Second command to configure Trap receiver, which is not required for Discovery.

** PCM+ uses LLDP for managed switch (such the 3500yl) in Discovery in the first Phase.

Try to ping the 3500yl from the PC that has PCM+, then do the Manual Discovery option in the PCM global Tools menu.

Don't forget to assign points.

Good Luck...

Re: PCM+ Not Discovering 3500yl

Hi, I often have problems with this sort of thing, what i usually check is the Telnet username and password is correct on both the switch and the PCM device.
Also, the IP authorised managers command has caused me problems, make sure the server is included....

Re: PCM+ Not Discovering 3500yl

Just noticed this in the release nots for Update 6:

When applying an (automatic) update that provides support for a new device type, you will need to re-discover the device(s). This is required to correctly re-classify and move the device(s) out of the â ProCurve Othersâ node.
