PCM+ User-defined devices

Is it possible to add an end-node as a User-defined device? The device I'm thinking of is a terminal server (the kind that lets you connect to a serial device over the network).
The capabilities section in the manual doesn't say if they can all be false.

Has anyone actually created any user-defined devices?

Thanks

Re: PCM+ User-defined devices

Hi Terry,

It's definitely possible. I think the manual may be incorrect, it mentions .ude files when I believe they need to be .udd (this was the case with PCM 2.0, maybe 2.1 uses the .ude extension now).

I've attached a sample configuration for a server, with a trigger to launch a remote desktop session.

After putting the files in the /server/config/devconfig/extern directory, go to the Global:Discovery Status
window {Preferences->Discovery->Status] and click Rescan for user defined devices. You'll then need to restart PCM for any triggers to show up.

Hope this helps.

Matt

Re: PCM+ User-defined devices

Hi Matt;

That worked. I have been able to define three tape libraries this way.

The extension is udd rather than ude as stated in the manual.

Thanks
