PCM+ exam question
Hi guys,
I encountered a question in a procurve exam today that i don't know the answer to. Maybe you guys can help.
Question: a Company has multiple branches and is using PCM+ to manage the switch equipment at all office's. They have noticed that it's putting heavy strain/load on their WAN link. How can you ease the load
1)Install an slave PCM+ server
2)Install PCM+ remote client on pc at another
site
3)Remove some managed devices from the managed list
4)can't remember the option
Any ideas, because the question does say that they want to manage all their branches

Re: PCM+ exam question
I'm not a PCM user, but logical thinking :
2)Install PCM+ remote client on pc at another site
=> noooo... thats just a client that gives a graphical interface to query the PCM server
3)Remove some managed devices from the managed list
=> noooo....; offcourse it WILL reduce trafic to managed devices, but then again you DON't manage them anymore, thats unwanted
4)can't remember the option
=> ??? can't say anything about that
leaves :
1)Install an slave PCM+ server
:-)

Re: PCM+ exam question
good way to go ... by logical elimination..
reminds me of college exams;)
...I believe there is no master-slave deployment between PCM Server's!
whats possible though is ( since the version 3.0) install PCM agents at each branch and have these agents linked to PCM server...Each agent would in turn be responsible for set of devices in its domain...that way some amount of wan traffic from PCM server to each device is reduced..
