PCM+ hardening the XP box

Does anyone have hints/tips for hardening the XP box that runs PCM? I can't find anything in the manuals. Are there ports that need to be opened in the firewall?

To be honest, I just turned off the firewall, but it should not be too hard to figure out what ports need opening. Either turn on logging and/or run a network trace to see what ports are being used and decide from there which ones you can do without.

Linda.

PCM uses port 161 and 162.

Scooter,
I think that is a bit of a short list.
There are lots of ports to consider depending on what features of PCM you use and whatever operations you perform from the box.
snmp
syslog
traps
telnet
ssh
ftp
tftp
web
remote PCM consoles
etc.

Hi Les,

Totally right.

Short and basic. *SMILE*

These are the ones that you need atleast to make PCM work.
Although...work ?? *ANOTHER-SMILE*

Thank you both of you. I had checked "notify me" when responded to but I never heard back.
