Port Counters and SysLog

Per recommendations from this forum, I am setting up a syslog server for our facility. I've managed to configure it to get all event log messages.

Is there any way to send port counters to the SysLog server or any other way of automatically archiving port error information periodically so that it can be referenced in case of problems? Our network is used for digital audio distribution and collisions can usually point out to problems in the configuration of devices but usually the switches will be power cycled before I can have access to that info.

Thanks! Rodrigo

Re: Port Counters and SysLog

Hi

I suggest you to use the PCM+ as a Syslog Server, where also you can get the Port Counters and all other events that you want to save.

Good Luck !!!

I'm curious about this problem too. But can PCM act as a syslog for non-procurve devices?

Re: Port Counters and SysLog

Hi

I didn't try the PCM to be a Syslog Server for other brands than ProCurve, but i believe that it should work, i mean why not?

One of the good things that we should use always for troubleshooting is the Syslog and Device log.

Also, keep the logs does matter when we have troubles in a Network.

Good Luck !!!
