Port for Remote Printing

Hello...

I am running into some trouble here with my router Port Forwarding:

What is the port number I have to forward to my printers (ColorLaserJet2550N) local IP so that it can be accessed via DynDNS service.
I was trying 9100 TCP/UDP but it does not work.
When I set the printer up as DMZ it works all right.

Thanks for your help

Re: Port for Remote Printing

There are several protocols that use different ports and 9100 is just one of them. It sounds to me that you are needing more than just the printing port.

The first thing I was taught in FW101 was to first sniff the traffic to see what there is and then later when setting up the firewall, to log drops to see what is overlooked by rules.

Re: Port for Remote Printing

Thats what I did.
Ethereal showed me the port was 9100, actually I missed a little checkbox in the firewall. It works fine now.
Thank you for your help!

Re: Port for Remote Printing

Everybody, using Ethereal I found out the little mistake in the firewall settings.
It works all right now, and it is simply port 9100.
Thanks for your help!
