Printing from VLAN

I have setup a VLAN on my ProCurve 2626:
my default vlan is 10.0.1.x and Vlan 2 is 10.0.2.x
I am trying to print from 10.0.2.x on a printer that is on 10.0.1.x . I have installed the printer, creating a local tcp/ip port.
I can ping the printer and print server but cannot print.

Thank you!

you mean ping from the procurve?

you may need to issue "ip routing" command on the procurve.

pleas post more details of the procurve config and what ports the printer and client are connected.

Re: Printing from VLAN

you also need to setup the default-gateway on both devices.

Re: Printing from VLAN

I can ping from a computer plugged into my VLAN - 10.0.2.X

when I telnet to the procurve - I do a show IP route and I get

ProCurve Switch 2626# show ip route

IP Route Entries

Destination Gateway VLAN Type Sub-Type Metric Dist.
------------------ --------------- ---- --------- ---------- ---------- -----
10.0.1.0/24 DEFAULT_VLAN 1 connected 0 0
10.0.2.0/24 Customer 2 connected 0 0
127.0.0.0/8 reject static 0 250
127.0.0.1/32 lo0 connected 0 0

The printer is plugged into port 12 on the procurve and the computer is in port 23

Re: Printing from VLAN

Hi,

the Printer have even a gateway in this config?

The best test it, plug a PC an die 10.0.2.x VLAN an try to ping in both directions. So you checked the Switch-Config.
