Problem with Procurve Switch 4108GL
Can someone please help, I have a HP Procurve 4108GL Switch, I am having problems getting the fibre module communicating with a LANTECH MAX Switch III (unmanaged).
If we connect any other switch to the LANTECH this works fine, also the 10/100 module on the Procurve is working fine with the LANTECH.
On the MM-Server for the Procurve we are seeing alot of yellow alerts indicating "Exessive undersized/giant packets" when the Procurve fibre module is connected to the LANTECH Switch.
Can someone tell me what might be going on here or if someone has come across similar problem with Procurve and LANTECH MAX Switch III.
All help will be much appreciated - Thanks
Jay

Re: Problem with Procurve Switch 4108GL
Hello Jay,
What module/transceiver/G-bic in the 4100 are you connecting to what module in the Lantech switch?
Please specify with productnumber or just if it is SX/LX or LH fiber.
What kind of cable are you using? Multi- or Singlemode?
What firmware are you running on the 4100?
Kind regards,
SCOOTER

Scooter,
Thanks for your reply, here's more info on the Procurve 4108gl :
1.Module connected to the Lantech switch is HP Procurve Mini G-Bic gl module J4893A port C1.
2.The model of the switch is 4108GL Product Code J4865A.
3.Product code for G-Bic module is J4858A HP Procurve Gigabit-SX LC Mini-GBIC.
4.The kind of cable being used is multi mode (almost sure).
5.Firmware is G.07.50. ROM G.05.01
Also, I've attached a screen shot of the MMS.
Thanks for your help on this.

Re: Problem with Procurve Switch 4108GL
Hello Jay,
First I would advise you to upgrade the firmware on the 4100 switch to atleast the latest on the web (G.07.63).
Then my question is do you see the errors also in the eventlog of the switch?
I assume the Lantech is autosensing like the Procurve so no bother looking there.
Did the link work fine before and for how long? Or did the problems begin from the installation start? Didi you try another cable, Gbic or sport on the Procurve and on the Lantech?
If that all does not fix the problem then I would call HP support for help.
Kind regards,
SCOOTER
