Also, want to find out from you what version of firmware you're running?

Re: Procurve 2524 - Port Error Counter(s) won't reset
Glad to see someone else has this problem - I was thinking I had a dodgy module!
I actually get the same problem on my 2524 with (I think) the same 100/1000T module. This happens in both slots, so the chassis is Ok - if I power on the switch without anything connected to that port, the counters are 0 on the gig port. As soon as I plug in any PC, the link comes up, and I see those errors. However, there appears nothing wrong with the performance of the link, and the errors do not increment.
The firmware is the latest available on the website - F.05.17

Re: Procurve 2524 - Port Error Counter(s) won't reset
with no network cables in place turn the unit on, everything is ZERO from the CLI Menu's.
Attach a Cable to port 26 (100/1000) to another unit configured the same, Port 26 and then get back into look at the Counters and you see what I posted before.
Turn the Power off and then Back on, the Error counts are still there.
running Firmware 5.17
hope this helps.

Re: Procurve 2524 - Port Error Counter(s) won't reset
Please see firmware F.05.22 which includes the following fix:
Release F.05.19 (Never Released)
Fixed in release F.05.19
├в Counters (PR_92221) ├в Counters for J4834A 100/1000 xcvr do not clear .
This fix matches your problem report and yes this was a bug.
Regards, A

Re: Procurve 2524 - Port Error Counter(s) won't reset
1st - yes this was a bug - and 2nd the info posted by Ardon is not usually available to the public (at least not right now). The info came from a procurve internal system that is used to track bugs / problems. Anyway, it is a minor (cosmetic) issue and will not affect the operation or performance of the switch. Since it is fixed - should be no problem.

Re: Procurve 2524 - Port Error Counter(s) won't reset
I see my copy and paste got scrambled.
The quote was pulled from the F.05.22 firmware release notes as available at http://www.hp.com/rnd/software/j4812522.htm
It was fixed in the interim release F.05.19 (that was never made public) and included in the F.05.22.
