Procurve 2626 pwr IP address problem
IтАЩm setting up a few Procurve 2626 PWR with 3 VlanтАЩs each. They are:
Vlan 10 for Data Ip 10.150.14.x Subnet 255.255.0.0
Vlan 20 for Servers Ip 10.150.13.x Subnet 255.255.0.0
Vlan 30 for Voip Ip 10.150.13.x Subnet 255.255.0.0
If I enter these values CLI returns a message stating тАЬInconsistent valueтАЭ IтАЩm out of options and I getting more and more confused. Can anybody give a hint?? It would be highly apreciated
Supposed per switch configuration

The reason for this set-up is to provide 12 ports for servers and printers 12 ports for users without phone. Ports 25& 26 are used as backbone trough all the Switches [8]

Re: Procurve 2626 pwr IP address problem
if you want the 3 networks as described, then use a /24 subnet, that way they don't overlap...

Re: Procurve 2626 pwr IP address problem
First of all thanks for your swift and to the point reply, It took me straight out of the circle and back on track.
It seems II received the wrong info from the customer about their setup in the current situation. They where stating the have 2 vlans but there seems to be only 1, or none. It seemes that Data and servers are in the same subnet[/16] now.
The new design will be:
Vlan 10 for Data & Servers Ip 10.150.0.xxx to 10.150.254.xxx Subnet 255.255.0.0
Vlan 30 for Voip Ip 10.151.15.xxx Subnet 255.255.0.0 or 255.255.255.0
pending on the actual amount of phones and future expansions.
Supposed per switch configuration for each switch
Switch00
Vlan10
10.150.14.254/16

Tis means that every port on the switches is capable to handle Data, phone and both.
Am I now proposing the right config?

Re: Procurve 2626 pwr IP address problem
with a /16 mask, you'll have 64K addresses capable...big network :-)
dependencies are:
1) the VoIP phones can speak tag
2) without routing, you will need a dhcp srvr in both vlans (or 1 that can speak tag frames, or 1 with 2nics, etc)
if you enable routing on the "main" switch, add the 'ip helper-address x.x.x.x' of the dhcp server in the vlan where the dhcp is not located...
otherwise, no problems (all normal guarantees and disclaimers apply :-)
let us know when it works :-)
cheers...jeff

Re: Procurve 2626 pwr IP address problem
1 DHCP server in range 10.150.xxx.xxx and a separate DHCP in the range 10.151.xxx.xxx?
Or
1 DHCP capable of providing 2 ranges 10.150 and 10.151 on 2 separate NIC,s
Or
1 DHCP and configure the Vlan30 like:
Vlan30 Voip
10.151.15.254/16
IP helper 10.150.1.xxx [DHCP address]

Do I have to reconfig the Server with this set-up so it can provide 10.151 addresses?
